REVELATION CHAPTER 21 (continued):
Verse 7… John tells Peter it is the Lord on the shore. Peter gets excited and jumps into the sea and swims to shore!
Matthew 13:44-46… Luke 19:1-10….
Verses 8-9… The disciples row to shore and when they arrive, they see a fire of coals with fish laid on it.
1st Kings 19:1-6… Philippians 4:19… Psalm 23:1… Proverbs 8:20-21...
Verses 10-11… Jesus instructs the disciples to bring the fish which they have caught. So Peter draws the net to land full of fishes, one hundred and fifty three. God is a God of ‘details’.
Matthew 10:29-30…
Verse 12… Jesus asks the disciples to ‘come and dine’.
Revelation 3:20… Matthew 11:28-30… John 14:23…
Verses 13-14… Jesus gives the disciples bread and fish…this is the third time Jesus showed Himself to the disciples after His resurrection.
John 20:19-29…
Verse 15… Jesus asks Simon Peter if he loves Him more that the fish he caught. After Peter tells Jesus he loves him, Jesus says “Feed my lambs”.
Matthew 26:30-35… Acts 20:28… 1st Peter 5:1-3…
Verse 16… Jesus asks Peter again if he loves Him. After Peter again affirms that he loves Him, Jesus says, “Feed my sheep”.
Jeremiah 23:1-4….
Verse 17… Jesus asks Peter again if he loves Him. Peter tells Jesus, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love You.” Jesus then tells Peter again, “Feed my sheep”.
1st Samuel 16:7…. 1st Chronicles 28:9… Jeremiah 17:10… Psalm 24:1
Verses 18-19… Jesus speaks to Peter by what death he will glorify God.
John 13:36-37… Acts 12:1-4...
NOTE: According to historical accounts, Peter died by being nailed to a cross in Rome. This type of death is called crucifixion. According to the apocryphal Acts of Peter, Peter asked to be crucified upside down, as he felt unworthy to die as Jesus did. Most historical sources only say he was crucified this way.
Verses 20-22…. Peter sees John and asks what he will do. Jesus answers him by saying, “What is that to you? Follow me.”
Acts 1:6-7… Deuteronomy 29:29… 2nd Corinthians 10:12
Verse 23… The rumor spread that John should not die.
Hebrews 9:27…. Genesis 3:19….
Verse 24…. John identifies himself as the one who wrote this Gospel account of Jesus.
John 19:33-35… 3rd John verses 12-14…
Verse 25… John states that Jesus did many other things which were not written in Scripture.
Matthew 19:26… Ecclesiastes 3:11…
