On Sunday, December 9, 2018, I (Sean Christopher Jenkins) led a Sunday school lesson, at Scott's Chapel AME, in Hermitage, Tennessee, about Joshua's last words to the leadership of Israel in Joshua 23. Then in Joshua 24, I talked about the commission and challenge Joshua gave to the whole population of Israel, the heads of all the tribes gathered together at Shechem to hear this message.
I spoke about how this lesson relates to what every person is going through in their lives. I spoke personally about what I am currently going through in this season of my life. I specifically spoke about the challenges I have had of being a virgin. Sometimes I do not see the point in keeping my virginity, but I trust in the Lord and I am just doing what He commanded us to do.
The Israelites in Joshua's time felt like the commands of God were stupid at times. God commanded them to walk around the city of Jericho, not knowing that God was going to break the walls down if they did. It seemed stupid, just like me saving my virginity for my wife, but God has a miracle waiting for those who leave the decisions up to God and who trust and do what He says.
I pray that you enjoy this lesson.
