The Sabbath and the Lord’s Day
(Mark 2:23-28)

God
is holy.
As He
is the only One who should be glorified,
He seeks to be glorified by His saints (Phil 2:10-11).
Worship is to glorify the Lord (Jn 4:24),
so worshippers must be holy before the holy One (1 Pet 1:13-16).
Without holiness, you cannot see the Lord.
In the Law, He made the Sabbath holy (Gen 2:3)
and He said, “You also be holy” (Ex 20:10-11).
However, the holy day of the New Testament church is after the Sabbath.
The day Jesus died on the cross and resurrected
is called the holy day and commemorates the Lord (Lk 24:1-7).
There is one Master of the holy day, but the nature of
the Sabbath and the Lord’s Day are different (Mk 2:27-28).
The Sabbath commemorates the Creator and is for Him,
and the Lord’s Day commemorates the resurrected Lord and is for the saints (Acts 20:7-12).
Today, we are not servants of the Sabbath.
We eat and drink the Lord’s blood and flesh, who saved our spirits (1 Cor 11:23-28).
Pentecost (when the Holy Spirit descended) was on the Lord’s Day (Acts 2:1-4).
So you must keep the Lord’s Day for your own spirit (Heb 10:25).
○ You are not saved by attending the Lord’s Day,
but you must confess the faith of your spirit (which is saved)
to have eternal life.
○ If you do not acknowledge the Lord Jesus’ merit, you have no salvation.
Those who acknowledge the Lord Jesus’ merit
confess their sins and are baptized.
○ You are judged even if you keep the Sabbath,
but if you acknowledge Jesus’ grace, you are saved.
The closer the Day of the Lord comes, the holier we must keep it.
※ The Sabbath is a fearful day, so you must submit to it,
but the Lord’s Day is when free people worship.
It is a confession of faith and glorifies God with joy.
