Join me later this evening as we continue our series on where and how the Bible contradicts the Trinity.
While we realize many have been raised believing in the Trinity, If the Trinity is not actually taught in the Bible then it should not be required belief for Christians. Indeed, if what is explicitly taught in the Bible contradicts the Trinity it is best to avoid using it when it comes to worshiping the biblical God.
The eighth text we will use to show the Trinity conflicts with the Bible is Hebrews 1:13-14 and 2:1-4, which concludes this series of applications of texts to the resurrected Son of God showing further how he is better than the angels since he was raised to God’s right hand and given his new name. Specifically, 1:13-14 apply additional Messianic King texts to the Son in contrast to the ministering role of angels in the past and present.
This leads to the main point of Hebrews Chapter 1 as expressed in verses 1-3 of Chapter 2, namely, we must pay even more attention to what God spoke through his Son while on Earth and since being raised to heaven. For if what God spoke in the past through angels and prophets proved true, how much more so will what he says through the Firstborn Son become true?
These texts all support the teaching of Hebrews 1:1-12, showing further how the Son is “better than the angels,” not because of his nature but due to his inherited name and position, This new name and position are given to Jesus’ resurrected spirit nature, as shown in our prior videos on Hebrews Chapter 1. He is not presented as better than the angels in terms of nature, for they are all spirits.
Therefore, Hebrews 1:13-14 and 2:1-4 are in direct conflict with the Trinity, which teaches Jesus is equal to God in his divine nature. By contrast, Hebrews 1:1-2:4 teaches Jesus does not share the eternal nature of a triune God, nor was he always “better” than the angels in terms of his divine position, which he did not retain while on Earth. He then “became better” than the angels after his spirit resurrection when God enthroned him. By contrast, God has always been better than his angels in terms of his position. So the Bible and the Trinity remain in conflict.
Please join me to discuss these texts, if you can do so with genuine interest and respect.
