In Isaiah 40, verses 6-8, the prophet reminds us of the brevity and transience of human life -- like grass and wild flowers we are "here today but gone tomorrow." But the prophet also affirms the good news of the reliability and power of God's Word whose promises to us are eternal. This text calls us to claim God's promises and put renewed trust in the God who loves and redeems us.
