“The Conversion of Zacchaeus” Luke 19:1-10
INTRO: Today we’re going to look at the meaning of conversion in the Bible in the story of Zacchaeus.
I. Conversion means: A DESPERATION to see Jesus, WHO He is v 1-4
A. Zacchaeus, who he was v 2
1. He was a chief TAX collector
2. He was very RICH
3. He wanted to SEE Jesus
B. Zacchaeus was so SHORT he was unable to see over the crowd v 3
C. Zacchaeus: v 4
1. He PERSISTED
2. He PERSEVERED
3. He CLIMBED a sycamore tree

II. Conversion means: To RECEIVE the invitation of Jesus v 5-6
A. Jesus SAW Zacchaeus v 5a
B. Jesus CALLED him by name v 5b
C. Jesus ASKED to be accepted in his home v 5c
D. Zacchaeus RECEIVED him JOYFULLY v 6

III. Conversion means: To REPENT v 7-8
Note: “Repent” means to change one’s mind, thoughts, direction, attitude, and yes, one’s whole life completely.
A. He was a SINNER v 7b (Ro. 3:9-18, 23; 5:8, 12)
B. He REPENTED, changed his life—TOTALLY v 8

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

IV. Conversion means: To LOOK to Jesus as the SAVIOUR v 9-10
Note: Why is that?
A. Because He is The One who proclaims SALVATION v 9
B. Because He is The One who SEEKS and SAVES the lost
