Clothing fads, political trends, jobs, and even hope and love are not permanent for most people today. Everybody wants a sense of stability and security in this life. We live in a sin-torn world that will always disappoint, always frustrate, and always sadden us (
Romans 8:20–22). The way the world is today is the way the world was in the days of the Israelites. They, too, knew the frustrations of a fallen world. They too, needed stability and a sense of belonging to something bigger than themselves. Our passage describes the way the Lord brought stability and assurance to His people while they wandered in the desert for 40 years. He taught them through the Courtyard of the Tabernacle.
