Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will (Romans 12:1–2, NIV®️). Christianity demands a willingness to sacrifice—lay down our lives and wills to the Lordship of Jesus of Nazareth. But the Church has increasingly leaned into a perverted view of the gospel, making it inert, inept, and impotent. We’ve spent so much time trying to get what we want from God and being angry and doubtful when He’s not fulfilling our demands. But our faith, which is foolishness to the world, demands we offer ourselves as living sacrifices for the Kingdom of our Lord and Savior. Let’s repent and decide to be people who are holy and pleasing to God.
