Following Jesus is an invitation into vulnerability. Jesus himself modeled an extreme sense of vulnerability with his own friends and followers. As Jesus prepared to die, he acknowledged his ‘soul was crushed with grief.’ All too often we are tempted to avoid any sense of vulnerability because we don’t want to be seen as weak. Jesus, the strongest person of all time, was vulnerable, not just this once, but regularly throughout his life and ministry.
