Jesus told a parable in Luke, chapter 16, that is often misunderstood. He does not tell us we have to hate money, but that the love of money diminishes us because we can’t love money and serve God. Now, if we heed His counsel regarding how to deal with possessions, we will flourish. You see, God has entrusted us with a small portion of His overall asset base, and what we do with those assets during our brief period in time has a significant impact on our opportunities in eternity. God has given us free will to choose to obey Him—it’s a gift. So, we want to invite God’s Spirit to teach us how to honor God with our money. And two key components will include learning how to be content and learning how to be generous.
