In our passage today Jesus is talking about us by laying out a parable that closely resembles historical events that have gone by, and that are too imminently about to happen. Jesus through the parable answers the question “What are we to do while we wait for the return of Christ?” The answer is revealed through the story of servants who are given a mina each to invest. We will find three categories of people in the parable that encompass all of humanity, and hopefully through that we will recognize ourselves to be within one of those. This parable serves as an encouragement to some, a warning to others, and a declaration of the absolute authority of Christ.
