This is another one of those scripture songs that just sort of wrote itself. Back in about 1992 I was thinking it would be nice to put some of Jesus' parables to music and The Parable of the Ten Virgins was one of the first ones I tried to do. For some reason it just sort of came together without any real effort. The message of this parable is so appropriate to our time, don't you think?

(Em)Then shall the kingdom of (D)heaven be likened (Bm)unto ten vir(F#m)gins,
Which (G)took their lamps and (A)went forth to (D)meet the (Bm)Bridegroom.
(C)Five of them were (G)wise, and (A)five were (Bm)foolish.
(Em)They that were foolish (D)took their lamps, and (Bm)took no oil with (F#m)them:
But the (G)wise took (A)oil in their (D)vessels with their (Bm)lamps.
And (C)while the Bridegroom (G)tarried, they all (A)slumbered and (Bm)slept.

Be(Bm)hold, the Bridegroom (G)cometh;
(A)Go ye out to (Bm)meet Him.
