The disciples seek to make preparations for the celebration of the Passover and Jesus foretells of his coming betrayal. At the Passover meal, Jesus institutes what we will come to call The Lord’s Supper and identifies himself with the bread and the cup. When Jesus foretells of Peter’s coming denial, Peter emphatically rejects it. When we approach the Lord’s table today, we are reminded of his body given for us and his blood shed for the forgiveness of our sins.
