It doesn’t matter how many times someone says, “I believe in Jesus,” or lists their spiritual résumé—baptized, prayed a prayer, went to church. Scripture is clear: if God’s seed really abides in a person, they cannot keep living in sin. It will wreck them from the inside out. The Spirit of God won’t allow them to stay comfortable in rebellion. Sin becomes unbearable because the very presence of God is dwelling within, convicting and calling them back.

This is what separates empty religion from real transformation. Those who truly belong to Him find themselves compelled to turn back, to walk in righteousness—not because of willpower, but because God Himself is at work in them. His Spirit won’t let them stay where they are. This is the mark of the new birth: a life that cannot stay the same.
