This passage in Luke is so rich, so packed with things we want to pay attention to, it's somewhat difficult to know how to approach it. It could be taught in a number of ways, but what I want to point out is something that sort of operates under the surface of what is most prominent in these verses. Luke presents this in a way that is meant to connect us with what can be seen of the Messiah when we think in terms of the Old Testament scriptures.
