Readers of the Bible have always come to the wrong conclusion about the relationship between God and Israel. Israel was a picture of the true people of God but, with the exception of a remnant, they were not the true people of God. The true Israel is a spiritual nation whose citizens are the Elect from every nation. Paul quotes the Prophet Isaiah in Romans 9:27
