The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire.
Good morning! Here is today’s word of blessings for you.
Revelation 16:8-12
8 The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire. 9 They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him. 10 The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in agony 11 and cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done. 12 The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East.
Today’s title is “The Sun Scorching People With Fire”
We have seen God’s judgment in action several times throughout redemptive history. Those judgment scenes were so terrifying and scary. The Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. He swept away all the people except Noah’s family by the flood. He brought unbearable disasters upon Pharaoh and his people with the ten plagues. God’s final judgment that we see in today’s passage is similar to those previous judgments in nature. But the scale and severity of the final judgment of God are far beyond any previous judgment. While most previous judgments were local in scope, the final judgment is global or universal in scale. The severity seems far worse than anything before. See how God turned the sun which He created to keep life bustling on earth against the people who rebelled against God. “The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire. They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over this plague”. I read an article that showed how a little shift in the earth’s axis of rotation can cause a cosmic disaster including the earth. This looks like it. Now God brought judgment more specifically targeted the kingdom of darkness. The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. Now the kingdom of darkness that haunted and harassed the people for so long is finally done away. Hallelujah and Hurrah! But what saddens us is that those with perverted hearts still refused to repent and glorify God. Oh my goodness! This is indeed how hopeless can a man become. This reminds me of some people whom I tried to lead to the Lord on their deathbeds. There are those who finally open their hearts to the Lord at the last moment of their life. Still, there are some that refuse the offer of the gospel even at the death bed. How sad it is! How dreadful it is! Can you confess that you are a sinner and repent what you have done before? If you can, that is the grace of God in itself. Furthermore, “The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night now and forever”
