This section of the Christ Hymn (Colossians 1:15-20) shows the supreme glory and majesty of Jesus Christ. In church history, a heretic named Arius denied the eternal deity of Christ. We claim that the many “all things” references about Christ are literal and therefore He is sovereign over the universe. That Christ sustains all things is true even at the molecular level. Christ is also head of the body, the church. We discuss this important truth and some of its implications. We also relate the truths revealed about Christ to the gospel call to repent and believe.
