In this series, “Attitude of Gratitude”, we are identifying the benefits produced by having gratitude in our Hearts. The word attitude is defined as somebody’s posture or disposition on any given topic in their life. Or simply summed up, it is their position on that topic. If we choose to have a position of negativity towards anything, it will take great persuasion to move us away from that negativity, to a position of being positive. The issue with the human heart is we allow ourselves to be persuaded negatively on any given subject, and sometimes in our maligned thinking, even towards God. This is why it is so important to take a position of gratitude or to have an “Attitude of Gratitude”. In this Bible study we will consider how the wise heed and ponder the Lords deeds and word. When you stop to think in the spirit, those who heed the word of the Lord are those who meditate on God’s word and why He does the things He does, and that He can only do, we begin to understand His greater purpose. The Lord is not slack concerning His promises (2Peter 3:9), but is also not slack concerning His discipline either. In this Bible passage we will look at how the people were humbled by oppression, calamity, and sorrow. This happened to them due to the condition of their hearts. If our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, are we also subject to the same humbling by oppression, calamity, and sorrow? We must be careful to not be someone who refuses to heed. Heed by definition means to pay attention, to take notice, or to listen. We also must be equally as careful to not be someone who also refuses to ponder. Ponder by definition means to think about carefully, or meditate on. Considering the majority of time spent as a Christian, how often does the average Christian truly heed, and ponder the Lords deeds and word? Truly those who neglect to do this, by default are missing out on how blessed we truly can be. One of the key principles in God’s kingdom that helps us is having a heart of gratitude. Those who have the heart of gratitude as instructed by the word of God, by default always heed and ponder on God. We must be very careful to allow the Lord to be Lord of our lives, by simply not allowing the distractions of this world, our flesh, and the enemy to take hold of our lives. If you are one of these who have neglected God, there is hope! The Word of God says in Psalm 107:6 then they cried out to the Lord and he delivered them from their distress. All we have to do, is cry out! God loves us, and just like the father in the story of the prodigal son, God also will come running from a far out to the road to meet you if you simply come to your senses and cry out to Him! When experiencing God’s deliverance, we can’t help but to give thanks to the Lord, For He is good, His love indoors forever (Psalm 107:1). AMEN!
