The journey the wise men embarked upon to follow the star was a two-year trip—it’s safe to say this particular invitation from God was disruptive to their lives. It would have been costly in both time and treasure. Their friends and family probably thought they were weird. They could have ignored the star. They could have chosen to stay home, but they would have forfeited the invitation that had been placed before them. They chose, regardless of disruption and conventional wisdom, to follow God’s invitation. And they got to meet the Messiah with exceeding joy in their hearts.

God extends to us all invitations to be engaged in His purposes, and joy awaits us as we follow Him. Will we accept the invitation? Will we follow Him no matter where He leads?
