Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
Good morning! Here is today’s word of blessings for you.
Psalm 125:1-4
1 Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people
both now and forevermore.
3 The scepter of the wicked will not remain
over the land allotted to the righteous,
for then the righteous might use
their hands to do evil.
4 Lord, do good to those who are good,
to those who are upright in heart.
Today's title is “Those Who Are Like Mount Zion”
Serving as a soldier is a challenging task. Even more demanding are the so-called special forces such as Green Beret or Navy Seal. To join in the special forces, candidates have to go through the most rigorous physical training. But what is more critical for those who join in the special forces is the mental fitness. They have to have a daring heart that does not fear the most hostile environment. They must be able to keep the peace and composure of their mind to accomplish the mission or assignment that they were given. So who could qualify for such demanding tasks both physically and mentally? What kind of people are those who serve as special forces? I have read an article in a weekly magazine that was written exactly to answer to the question years ago. Surprisingly the answer offered by the article was that most of those special forces are highly religious people. In other words, most of them are serious Christians. That was a little surprise to me initially. Like many others, I had thought that they could be mostly those tough-looking muscular guys. But as I thought it over, the conclusion of the article made sense. Although the battle field is highly demanding physically, and more so for the task of special forces, what really determines the success or failure of the mission should be the strength of the mind than their physical fitness. It will be more so if you are involved in the spiritual warfare rather than in physical war. Do you have such strong and reliable heart? How can we have such strong and trustworthy mind? I believe today’s psalm shows the answer for it. “Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore.” Those who trust in the Lord have the most unshakable, reliable, thus trustworthy heart. Why? It’s because the Lord surrounds them all the time as the mountains surround Jerusalem. In other words, those who anchored their life firmly in the Lord have the greatest stability and peace. When you are equipped with such unearthly security and peace of mind, you surely can outgun and outsmart anybody in the physical and spiritual battle. The wind blows all the time in the sea of life. Sometimes, heavy rains and storms be buffeting in it. How will you endure it? How secure and peaceful is your mind? It all depends on how firmly and securely you trust in the Lord. If you trust in the Lord with all your hearts and mind and souls, you will certainly not be shaken like Mount Zion. Amen!
