And he entered the synagogue and for three months spoke boldly, reasoning and persuading them about the kingdom of God. But when some became stubborn and continued in unbelief, speaking evil of the Way before the congregation, he withdrew from them and took the disciples with him, reasoning daily in the hall of Tyrannus. This continued for two years, so that all the residents of Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks. — Acts 19:8-10

I don't know about you, but I think finding a great church is challenging. But you'll notice that Paul never found it challenging to find a church. Isn't that interesting. This was never difficult for him. He had exactly the opposite problem that we do. Instead, he found it difficult to stay at most of the churches he attended because they rejected him, not because he rejected them. In fact, we could suggest that Paul hoped to stay at every church he attended as long as possible.

But when Paul left, he always left under certain conditions. And this text demonstrates three reasons he left the church in Ephesus.

They resisted change.
They resisted believing.
They resisted truth by speaking evil against it.

These could be three good reasons for you to walk away from a church. But I wonder if this could also apply to a friendship, a dating relationship, or a work environment as well—just something to think about today.

So today, if you are considering leaving a church or relationship. Maybe use these three conditions to evaluate your present circumstance. And before you walk away, ask these questions.

Are they resistant to change?
Are they resistant to belief?
Are they resistant to the truth and speak evil against it?

And if you can confidently answer each of these questions affirmatively, make sure you address the last question. It's deeply personal, and it's a question for you. Here it is:

Have you given effort like Paul would? An all-out all-in effort for Jesus Christ. If so, then maybe it's time to leave.

ASK THIS: What relationship or environment do you need to assess?

DO THIS: Give a full effort.

PRAY THIS: God, give me the strength to be your man in the face of my opposition.
