A clip from the live-streamed Day Text show for December 28, 2018, which covered the text, translation, and meaning of 1 Timothy 3:16, as well as related Trinitarian heresies which developed hundreds of years after the Bible was written.
Because the Trinity's required metaphysics for its view of "God" and of Jesus as having two-natures (a "God-man") do not have explicit biblical support and, in fact, contradict what the Bible teaches, it is possible some of its overzealous supporters have attempted to change the reading and the meaning of 1 Timothy 3:16. It is also possible this is simply a scribal error, given the close similarity of the two key letters involved.
However, no Christian writer earlier than the 4th century CE cites this text with the reading, “God,” and none of our earliest New Testament texts read “God” in the original hand. So why do some texts like the King James use “God” and not “Who,” the better attested reading? In what sense can Jesus or other sons of God correctly be called "God" or "gods"? These questions will be answered in this video.
