Uzziah sinned because he lacked the fear of God necessary for obedience. He dared to think himself holy, implying a belief that God was not much more righteous than he. He forgot that God is infinitely holy and that no man can presume to enter His presence. We simply cannot take such a stance. Yet, we have somehow twisted the concepts of grace and faith to be synonymous with presumption, taking them for granted and assuming all is well because we are under grace.
