In the Magnificat, Mary takes the role of prophet, singing a song that describes the shape of God's coming new day. The song invites us to catch God's vision of the future. Just as athletes visualize what they are preparing to do, the prophet Mary gives us a vision of what the world is to become. And we are invited to live into that vision.
