Today in Worship
Imagine driving down a winding road. Suddenly, you round a curve and find that the road is closed for construction. But it’s too late to stop. You slam on the brakes but still crash into barricades and a pickup left by the construction crew. Coming away with a banged-up car and a bruised body, you think, “Why wasn’t there a sign to warn me?” Warnings are needed when we’re headed into danger. God appointed Ezekiel as a watchman over his people Israel, to warn them when they were sinning and in danger of God’s judgement. Ezekiel urged them to turn from their evil ways, back to God and righteousness. God appoints watchmen today to warn his people to repent of sin and turn to him for forgiveness. Pastors watch over our souls and speak God’s Word into our lives. We all stray down dangerous roads and need to be warned to turn back to Jesus, our Savior, for forgiveness and the power to live for him.
