Jesus urges his disciples to watch and pray, most famously in the Garden of Gethsemane just before Judas betrays him to the religious Jews and Roman authorities, "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." Of course, the disciples demonstrated the latter half of that statement and not the former. So what then did Jesus mean by, "Watch and Pray?"
