Jesus is “in” his Father, they are identical in every way: they are two distinct persons yet they are equally God. However, believers are “in” the Father and “in” the Son in a different way. In Jesus we are given life now, “in him was life;” and, in Jesus we will be given life in the future when those who hear the voice of the Son of God will live. Life in Jesus produces the fruit of good works in the believers life. In Jesus we have a standing before God. We are justified and have redemption in Jesus. In Jesus God is conforming us into the image of his Son. We are supposed to know this! It give us comfort, consolation, encouragement, motivation, peace of mind and direction for our lives.
