STUDY NOTES :

ACTS CHAPTER ONE (continued):
Verses 6 - 7:  Is it time?  Jesus says it is not for us to know the times that have been fixed by the Father…The Greek word for time = “Chronos”….”a length of time as succession or measurement of moments as in a chronometer, the passing of moments.” 
Ecclesiastes 3:1, 11…… Hebrews 9:27….. Luke 17:20-24…. Matthew 24:32-51
Verse 8: But you shall receive power…..Greek = “Dunamis” = power, especially inherent power; capability, ability, to be able, strengthened.  But notice….the power (ability) comes AFTER the Holy Spirit has come upon you!
Purpose for the “power”:  Ye shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem (home); and in all Judea (surroundings); and Samaria (other places not known to you); and the remotest part of the earth (in the entire world).
Witnesses – Greek = ‘Martus’….to bear witness; to testify emphatically!  Literally one who remembers, one who has information or knowledge or joint knowledge of anything that can give information to bring to light or confirm anything, and specifically in this case: to confirm and bring to light the Gospel of Christ Jesus. 
1st Corinthians 15:1-4…..  Romans 1:16….  2nd Timothy 2:15….  2nd Timothy 4:1-5….

Verses 9-11:  He was lifted up….while they were watching…and a cloud received him out of their sight.  1st Corinthians 15:4-8….
This SAME JESUS is coming back the very same way……
