ACTS CHAPTER 11 (continued):

 Verses 1 – 14… Peter reports his activities at Caesarea upon his return to Jerusalem.
Verses 1-3… The “circumcision” took issue with Peter when they heard Peter was with the Gentiles.

Verses 4-14… Peter explains what occurred in Joppa and then when he went to Cornelius in Caesarea.

Verses 27-30… Prophets in Antioch point to a great famine.
          (Vs. 29…  They sent relief to the brethren.

          (Vs. 30… Elders =Greek–Presbus = Ambassador, Representative.

ACTS CHAPTER 12:
Verses 1-4…… Peter’s Arrest.
Verses 1-2…. Herod puts James to death with the sword.  He “mistreats the church”.
“Church” – Greek = Ekklesia – congregation / called out ones
“Mistreat” – Greek = Kakoo – to harm or do evil, to plague, injure
This is the same James found in Matthew Chapter 4:18-21.
Regarding persecution… Jesus said… John 15:18-21
Verse 3… Herod saw it pleased the Jews, so he arrested Peter.
“Pleased” – Greek = Arestos – to be dear, pleasant, well pleasing.
How could anyone be pleased with the brutal death of someone?

Verse 4… Herod used 16 soldiers to guard Peter… his intention was to bring him out before the people after the Passover. Why?
