I. Joseph’s Birth (Gen. 30: 22-24)
A. Joseph was born to Jacob and Rachael.
B. Jacob had 12 sons that would become the nation of Israel.

1. Leah- Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah Issachar Zebulan
2. Leah’s Servant Zilpah- Gad, Asher
3. Rachel- Joseph, Benjamin
4. Rachel’s Servant Bilhah- Dan, Naphtali
II. Joseph’s Betrayal (Gen. 37: 18-28; 39: 9,17-18; 40: 20-23)
A. Joseph’s first betrayal- his brothers.
B. Joseph’s second betrayal – Potiphar’s Wife
C. Joseph’s third betrayal – The Cup Bearer
III. Joseph’s Breakthrough (Gen. 41:38-43)
A. By God’s divine intervention, Joseph is promoted to Prime Minster of Egypt.
IV. Joseph’s Benevolence (Gen. 45: 5-8; 50: 20)
A. Joseph saves his family from the famine.
B. Joseph forgives his brothers of their sin.
a. Joseph understood the doctrine of God’s Providence. (cf. Acts 2: 22-23)
Points to Ponder:
1. As a Christian, you are not responsible for what happens to you but you are responsible for how you respond to what happens to you. (James 1: 2-4; Heb. 12: 11)
2. God uses faithful people to accomplish great things. What kingdom size dreams are you willing to let God accomplish through you?
