Matthew 4: 16-18 says that, “[t]he people who were sitting in darkness saw a great Light, and those who were sitting in the land and shadow of death, upon them a Light dawned.” From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” For over 400 years between the time of the Book of Malachi and the time of the Book of Matthew, the nation of Israel was in total darkness. There was no prophet to bring the word of God. Thus, when our Lord Jesus Christ came, he began to preach and say, “Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Repentance leads to restoration. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says that “if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” If you are not committed to be restored, then you could easily decide that the biblical process of restoration is impossible.
