What is the Gospel? Why is it considered Good News? Perhaps one of the simplest
descriptions is the most accurate. Here are the words of Paul:
“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins
in accordance with the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day in
accordance with the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
In our passage, Paul lays down a “what if” argument defending the resurrection, an
inseparable part of the good news, and caps the whole chapter it by explaining what the
resurrection means for us:
