What does the Bible say about children? In this Bible study from the Book of Mark, Pastor Robert unpacks Mark 10:13-16 and reveals how Jesus stopped everything — even on His way to the cross — for a group of little children and their parents.
In Mark 10:13-16, parents bring their toddlers to Jesus so He might touch and bless them. The disciples try to push them away, thinking the Lord is too busy for children. Jesus responds with strong displeasure:
“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” (Mark 10:14-15)
Then He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.
What You’ll Learn:
1. Why Jesus used children as the ultimate example of kingdom greatness and true faith
2. The heart posture required to enter God’s kingdom — childlike trust, humility, and open-handed reception
3. The vital role of parents, grandparents, and believers in bringing children to Jesus early and often
4. God’s tender care for the little ones and His warning to those who would harm or hinder them
5. How the seeds of faith planted in childhood can bear fruit even decades later
Jesus values children highly. He doesn’t see them as distractions from “real ministry” — they are part of the heart of His ministry. The same arms that embraced those toddlers would soon be stretched out on the cross for them… and for you.
This teaching is part of an ongoing verse-by-verse study through the Gospel of Mark. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, children’s ministry leader, or someone seeking to understand childlike faith, this message will encourage and challenge you.
We pray that you are blessed by the message!
