Brothers, I entreat you, become as I am, for I also have become as you are. — Galatians 4:12
So let's recall the context first. Paul is trying to persuade the believers in Galatia that God's redemptive grace gives them salvation and freedom from old ways. And in the following few verses, Paul will slightly change his tone. He will move from a rational approach, which is Paul's style, to more of a relational approach, something we don't see that often from him.
If you are a father out there, you know this moment. It's that moment you struggle to understand how to address a child. You're unsure. Do you come at them hard, or do you go at them soft? And in your mind, you have tried to teach them this same frustrating lesson a thousand times. Yet, still, you are willing to do anything and try anything to help them understand because you love them that much!
Today I want you to suffer just a little longer for that friend, brother, son, or father in your life who is yet to understand and believe. Suffer a little long through their unbelief. And do it because it's right to do. I know you might want to give up on them, but don't. And if you need something to inspire you, remember Christ never gave up on you. And then suffer through their misunderstanding and love them the same.
