When the nation of Israel stood before Mt. Sinai, God was about to make a covenant with this newly redeemed nation. Israel knew what this agreement entailed, but as time progressed, and as we come now to the New Testament, Israel had lost, or perverted the use of the Law. It was no longer promise, but debt!
