Is doing good a necessary resulting fruit from a simple saving faith in Jesus? Are good works and obedience manifestations of a living faith that gives us everlasting life? The King James translators would agree (see below).

In Romans 2:1-11, we see such things as: a man is required to have a repentant/penitent heart to escape the wrath and righteous judgment of God (v.5), eternal life is given to those who have "patient continuance in well doing" (v.7), "tribulation and anguish" fall upon those who practice evil (v.9) and "the doers of the law shall be justified" (v.13). This is not me or some Lord Salvationist preacher. This the apostle Paul and it's in great unison with the apostle James (Jam. 2:14-26). These resulting good works don't contribute to or cause our salvation but are also by grace and make invisible faith, visible.

I don't usually say I affirm what is called "Lordship Salvation" since it's heavily twisted and misrepresented to mean a self-righteous gospel (I'm not sure who invented the term). But the Scriptures are clear over and over again that good works are the fruit of salvation by grace through faith for every believer (Eph. 2:8-10, Titus 3:1-8, Rom. 6, Heb. 3:12-19, 10:26-27, 1 Thess. 4:1-8).

The KJV translators believed this:

"XII. Of Good Works
Albeit that Good Works, which are the fruits of Faith, and follow after Justification, cannot put away our sins, and endure the severity of God's judgement; yet are they pleasing and acceptable to God in Christ, and do spring out necessarily of a true and lively Faith; insomuch that by them a lively, Faith may be as evidently known as a tree discerned by the fruit." (39 Articles of the Church of England, 1562)
