In this verse, the prophet is saying that everything you’re doing isn’t paying off, or maybe you’re not seeing the return for the effort put into it.

Everyone should take a step back and examine their effort. Are we getting the fruit for our time and our energy?

Everything isn’t measured in dollars and cents. It’s measured in knowing you are being obedient and experiencing a satisfaction and fulfillment; but you have to examine the deposit you are receiving for all that you are doing.

So many people continue to do the same thing that brings up the same result. It’s not just the result of pockets with holes in it. It’s the feeling of – “I’m not living up to my potential. I’m not happy. I’m not satisfied. I’m not doing the right thing. I’m not living in the right state. I’m not going to the right church.” And you just live in this total state of confusion and uncertainty.

Examine every one of your efforts and ask yourself, “Am I getting the return for that? Am I getting the return for this?”

Everything in your life comes down to your time, the energy that it takes, and your fruit from that effort.
