Worship is often limited to places in people's mind. We often say, Let's go to church to worship. Let's go to this building to worship. And that reveals our understanding is so flawed, is so inadequate. Because worship is never in a place, worship is always focused on the person. In the Old Testament, the presence of God is in a place, that's true but it is not that they worship the place, they worship the God Who is in the place.

So worship is not about a place, it's about a person. Jesus Himself clarified that in John 4, that you don't have to worship God in any special place, God is spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. So the focus again is not about the place, it's about the person. It's not where but who. In Psalm 33:1-3, again I see that that is the consistent principle; "Rejoice in the Lord", "Praise the Lord", "Sing unto Him a new song".

The focus is not on the place, the focus is not on the instruments, the focus is not on music, the focus is not on the preacher or the pastor, the focus is on God. And I want to direct your attention today, to a life of worship. Focus on God. When you gather on Sunday to sing unto Him, let it be into Him, and not to yourself or to others, but let it be Him.

You say, why do we worship God?

Well the Psalmist says in Psalm 33, because we are righteous, and we have been saved, and because we are upright. And therefore we sing unto Him with a new song. You see this is what the Bible teaches; we worship God because He has redeemed us, He has changed us, He has made us righteous, given us the ability to walk in uprightness, He has redeemed us, and therefore we worship Him.

So worship is not about the place, it's about the person, and it's about the person who has saved us, forgiven us and changed us.

So let us worship God, because He is God who has redeemed us for Himself. God bless.
