Here Comes the King!
The gospel accounts of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem on that first Palm Sunday describe a grand entrance in at least three ways: it was dramatic, it was deliberate and it demanded a response.
Why did Jesus ride in on a donkey? Why did the crowds shout “Hosanna” at Jesus? How might they have misunderstood what Jesus was doing? How did the religious leaders react that day? And what timeless lessons about God’s love for us are to be found here?
Join Pastor Jim for this study of that first Palm Sunday (a.k.a. Passion Sunday) from John 12:12-19. (35:14)

(7:03) Call to Worship: Psalm 118
Leader: Give thanks to the Lord for He is good;
People: His faithful love endures forever.
Leader: Let those who fear the Lord say,
People: “His faithful love endures forever.”
Leader: Open the gates of righteousness for me;
People: I will enter through them and give thanks to the Lord.
All:
This is the gate of the Lord; the righteous will enter through it.
I will give thanks to You because You have answered me
and have become my salvation.
The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
This came from the Lord; it is wonderful in our eyes.
Leader: This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
All: Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
(33:50) Creed - Christ Our King
Leader: Who is Jesus Christ?
People: Jesus Christ is the eternal Word and Son of God, the second Person of the Holy Trinity. He took on human nature to be the Savior and Redeemer of the world, the only Mediator between God and fallen humanity.
Leader: What offices does Christ carry out as our redeemer?
People: Christ, as our redeemer, carries the offices of a prophet, of a priest, and of a king, both in His state of humiliation and His state of exaltation.
Leader: How does Christ carry out the office of a king?
People: Christ carries out the office of a king in subduing us to Himself, in ruling and defending us, and in restraining and conquering all His and our enemies.
