1. In you I put my trust (1-3)

David put his trust in God. He trusted that God would never let him be put to shame by his enemies. He trusted that the LORD would protect all who place their hope in him. The LORD would not fail.

2. Take away all my sins (4-22)

David's hope and trust is expressed in his dependence on God in the matter of sin. David prayed that the LORD would guide him, remembering his love and not David's rebellion. He sought the LORD who instructed sinners and provided his forgiveness. He feared God in the hope that the LORD would reveal himself to the one who sought him. He depended on the LORD who was his Savior by taking away his sins. There he took refuge and put his hope in the one who could deliver his people. His Psalm looks forward to the eternal salvation from sin that God provided in the gospel of Jesus, who took away our sins on the cross.


Prayer: LORD, you are the one who takes away my sin. Help me to put all of my hope in you.
