God has accomplished everything through the cross for you to enjoy life and godliness. The only thing remaining is your choices. God’s power has given you everything you need for life and godliness through your knowledge of Him who called you by His own glory and goodness. Through these, God’s given you His very great and precious promises so that, through them, you may participate in His divine nature. It means you’ve been given permission to participate. But it requires your choices, determination, willingness, enthusiasm, and even your effort to escape the corruption in the world caused by the evil desires. There’s that dichotomy—those are the choices, and there are two options. There’s no real third option. If you don’t want godliness, understand you you’re voting for expressions of evil desires and the consequences that come with them. If you want godliness, you’re voting for the abundant life God promises. Which path will you take?
