The minor prophet Zephaniah pronounced judgment on different nations, but also against Judah as he prepared the way for good King Josiah. In Chapter 3 we see the prophet actually pronouncing judgment on the city of Jerusalem; the inhabitants there. The Jewish people were not adhering to God's Word and actually didn't seek after the Lord. We must never forget that God is still the same today; therefore we shouldn't take lightly the Old Testament example of judgment against a city because if God does it to Jerusalem, he can also do it to cities today.
