Comment faire pour connaître DIEU (Jn 8:54-58).  /   How to Know GOD (Jn 8: 54-58)

The incredible story of God's upside-down grace to us in Jesus Christ.

There is something upside-down about Jesus. In our world, it’s always a fight to get to the top. If life is like a pyramid, everyone wants to get to the top, and it doesn’t seem to matter how many people get squashed along the way. 

But there is something upside-down about Jesus. He takes the pyramid that everyone is trying to get to the top of, and he flips it upside-down. In inexplicable grace, he put himself on the bottom. He left heaven to come as our Savior to earth. He humbled himself below everyone else and died the death we deserve on the cross for our sins. Who does that? There’s something upside-down about Jesus!

That’s where you and I come in: Jesus did all of that for us! Perfect Jesus was punished so that we sinners are forgiven? That’s upside-down. That’s Jesus! When he rose from the dead, he opened heaven to you and me. Life in the face of death? That’s Jesus - our Upside-Down Savior!

Blessed is the nation whose people hope in God’s unfailing love. Blessed is the nation whose people trust in Jesus as their King and Savior. Blessed is the nation where believers in Jesus focus on changing people’s hearts with the Gospel instead of trying to force people to change outward behavior with laws. Blessed is the nation that’s filled with Christians declaring the praises of Jesus who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light. Blessed is the nation whose citizens pray: “May your unfailing love be with us, LORD, even as we put our hope in you” (Psalm 33:22). I hope you can read or watch this 4th of July sermon.
