Loving others well is a challenge. It requires patience, understanding, and most difficult of all, a willingness to listen. 
 As Pastor Sam discusses the love language of touch in the healing of a leper, we see that Jesus was not just willing to touch the man, but also to be fully present and really listen to his story. 
 On this Christmas Sunday, we remember that God gave us His son to set the prime example of what loving well looks like. Let's take a moment to celebrate our Savior's birth and allow Him to love us so that we may love others.

As a young boy, Christmas Eve had me so excited that it was nearly impossible to get to sleep. But Jesus' command that we "Keep awake," is much harder when we are awaiting a day whose arrival date is unknown. And so Advent often becomes about little more than getting ready for Christmas. But how does Advent become about something more? How do we live expectantly and excitedly for God's coming new day?

In the wilderness, it was the pillar of fire at nighttime over the tabernacle, and at the transfiguration it was the brilliant glow of Jesus. Today it is our presence in the world that is to be guiding light for others as we let him shine through us.
