We celebrate Christmas by focusing on the birth of the Son of God on earth. It is also possible to look at Christmas from the heavenly point of view. In our lesson this week, we will look at how the descent of Jesus from heaven to the cross is the greatest demonstration of humility possible. Jesus who is sovereign God was willing to come down to earth and be subjected to suffering (Expositor and Illuminator Union Gospel Press, Winter Quarter 2021).

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of a King of Peace. Jesus! We hear that and know it, yet often we do not appreciate how this truth fulfills so many of the promises God made when He chose to bring His Son through Abraham’s line. He was born to rule as a King over a Kingdom bringing peace to those who would love Him. And it is still His promise to us. The King came to reign peace in our hearts, and the King is coming again to usher-in peace on earth.
