We are into the season of Advent – it is a season of preparation, getting ready. On December the 25th we celebrate the biggest event in History – God entering His world, not as some "All-powerful Deity," ready to throw His weight around, but coming in weakness, humility – coming as a baby into obscurity. 
The season of Advent should be seen as a gift, an invitation to journey towards this event, to make space to wonder – to ensure that when Christmas day comes, we are ready to worship, to be changed and transformed.

Hope. We all deal with it for better or worse. Sometimes we seem to have it, and other times we seem to lose it. But what is it? Is it possible that it's a whole lot different than we think, maybe far better? God thinks so. That's why he tells us such great things about it in his Word.

We focus on so many things that we miss opportunities to love and care for those in our life. Let’s slow down and re-discover rest. This Sunday, we want to look at how practicing Sabbath can be an active rejection of our own pride, and an acknowledging that God is the one who sustains our lives.

For the first time in memory, Pastor John Day of Longbranch Community Church elected to give a Thanksgiving themed message titled “R & R”. Brother John pointed out that clearly: God does indeed love a good feast and encouraged us all regularly – and with intention - to “Remember …and Rejoice!” 
 
Today’s message was taken directly from the Book of Deuteronomy 16: 1-17, and the video message begins promptly at the 28min/38sec mark. As per usual, John’s message was beautifully wrapped By Ms. Barbara’s stellar piano skills and tied with the warm bonds of kinship Longbranch Community Church is so well known for.
