In this volume we give you John Gill’s commentary on Paul’s Epistle to the Ephesians.

John Gill was an a pastor of the English Baptist denomination who held to the firm tradition of Calvanism. After serving as an intern assistant at Higham Ferrers at the age of 22 Gill was called to pastor the Strict Baptist Church at Goat Yard Chapel, Horsledown in Southwark in 1719. Under his charge the Church grew, moving to new premises in Carter Lane and eventually became the New Park Street Chapel. This, of course, was the Church pastored by C.H. Spurgeon being renamed the Metropolitan Tabernacle after a further move.

Gill’s writings are most helpful in expounding God’s word even for us nearly 300 years after he lived. He has been acclaimed as the first Baptist to produce major written works as a theologian.
