Mais si quelqu’un – même un ange venu du ciel – annonce un évangile s’écartant de la Parole de Dieu, il est maudit. Tous les chrétiens, sans exception, doivent réfléchir sérieusement à ces paroles que Paul a adressées aux Galates. L’Évangile est le cadeau le plus précieux que l’Église ait reçu. Celle-ci doit le chérir, le protéger et le proclamer. Nous avons la responsabilité de vérifier la validité de nos croyances et de nos enseignements en nous posant cette question : est-ce vraiment l’Évangile ? Est-ce l’Évangile que Dieu nous a révélé dans la Bible ?
Il y a un faux évangile – l’évangile de la prospérité – qui se répand un peu partout à travers le monde. Plusieurs églises prêchent ce faux évangile. Il s’agit cependant d’un mensonge extrêmement dangereux qui se cache sous les apparences de la religion. Tous ceux qui sont affectés par cette tromperie s’éloignent de la Bonne Nouvelle de Dieu et embrassent un mensonge centré sur l’homme. Tout comme l’apôtre Paul, les auteurs de ce livre prennent au sérieux le danger d’annoncer un évangile qui serait contraire à l’Évangile de Christ. En effet, il n’y a rien de plus crucial que de connaître le vrai Évangile, car le salut de nos âmes en dépend.

Piper hit the evangelical scene after the publication of his book Desiring God: Meditations of a Christian Hedonist (1986) and has continued to publish dozens of other books further articulating this theological perspective. In 1994, he founded Desiring God Ministries, which provides all of Piper's sermons and articles from the past three decades, and most of his books online free of charge, as well as offering for sale books, CDs, and DVDs and regularly hosting conferences.
