Nay, my defign is, in fome fenfe to forget all that ever I have read in my life. I mean to fpeak, in the, general, as if I had never readone Author, ancient or modern (always excepting the infpired.) I am perfuaded, that on the one hand, this may be a me'a'ns' of. Enabling me more clearly to exprefs the {entiments'of my heart, whilei limply follow the chainiof my own thoughts, without entangling my felt with thofe of othegmen and that, on the other, I iball come with 'fewer weights upon my mind, with lefs of pre'udice and prepoffeiiion, either to fearch for myfelfj, or to deliver to others; the naked truths of the Gofpel.
